The Boredom Diagnostic Router
Your client just said they're bored. One question tells you which of five problems you actually have — and which layer to change. Tap their answer, get the confirming question, the prescription, and what not to do. Built for use mid-conversation, so it is free and needs no sign-in.
"Bored" is one word covering five different problems.
Each of the five has a different fix, and four of them are not the exercises. Ask the opening question, tap what they said, and this routes you to the right one — the confirming question that proves it, the layer to change, and the mistake that makes it worse.
What this is, and what it is not
This is a diagnostic. Its output is a change — to SURFACE, to ROTATE, or to SHARE — not a rebuttal. You are not trying to talk the client out of anything. You are trying to find out what they are actually reporting, because "bored" is a single word covering at least five different problems with five different fixes.
If the diagnosis lands on "the program is right and the client wants novelty for its own sake," that is a separate conversation — the case for holding the line — and FitFlow's guide "Stop Changing Exercises — Fix This Instead" covers it properly. This worksheet gets you to the point where you know which conversation you are in. Stop Changing Exercises — Fix This Instead
Start here — ask your client this
Do not ask "why are you bored?" It invites a rationalisation, and the client will produce one that sounds reasonable — usually about the exercises, because that is the vocabulary available to them.
"Bored with what, exactly — the session itself, one specific movement, or the fact that it looks the same on paper?"
Three options, all legitimate, none of them leading. The answer routes you to roughly the right neighbourhood before you ask anything else.
What did they say?
Then run the confirming question for that translation.
Triage order matters: always check progress visibility first. It is by far the most common cause, it is the cheapest to fix, and it masks the others. A client who cannot see progress will often also report the exercises as stale, and if you fix the exercises you will have fixed nothing.
